Two Ottawa Fire Services members charged in hate-motivated assault incident involving another member

THE Ottawa Police Service Hate and Bias Crime Unit and West District Investigations Unit have charged two people in relation to a workplace assault in September 2022.

Police said on Monday that the incident happened while the victim and two accused were on duty as members of Ottawa Fire Services.

The victim came forward to report the matter to police on September 20.

The assailant is charged with hate-motivated assault/choking, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, harassment by threatening conduct.

The second member is charged with criminal negligence. Both will appear in court on December 16.

No further details will be provided to protect the victim’s identity, police said.
