ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police officers from 22 Division Uniform Patrol have charged two Brampton men and two Brampton Women with firearm and drug possession offences.
On Tuesday, March 8, investigators conducted three Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrants at two residences and of one vehicle. One residence was in the area of Sandalwood Parkway and Airport Road in Brampton, and the second residence was in the area of Bramalea Road and East Drive in Brampton.
As a result of the search warrants, the following items were located and seized:
- A Smith and Wesson 40 calibre handgun
- Ammunition
- A quantity of Opium
- A quantity of Doda
- A quantity of dried Poppy Pods
- A bulletproof vest
- A BB gun
- An amount of Canadian currency
- An amount of Indian currency
- Unknown adhesive patches
Sukhinder Minhas, a 56-year-old man from Brampton, is charged with the following alleged offences:
- Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Possession of an Unloaded Firearm with Ammunition Readily Available
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Serial Number Removed
- Possess for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
Balvinder Minhas, a 59-year-old woman from Brampton, is charged with the following alleged offences:
- Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Possession of an Unloaded Firearm with Ammunition Readily Available
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Serial Number Removed
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
Harsimran Minhas, a 29-year-old man from Brampton, is charged with the following alleged offences:
- Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Possession of an Unloaded Firearm with Ammunition Readily Available
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Serial Number Removed
Ravina Minhas, a 33-year-old woman from Brampton, is charged with the following alleged offences:
- Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Possession of an Unloaded Firearm with Ammunition Readily Available
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number Removed
They were all held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Wednesday, March 9.
“This is another example of the hard work, dedication and perseverance by our officers which unfortunately also demonstrates the correlation between drug trafficking and firearm offences in our communities. We are committed to investigate these serious crimes and hold those who put our community at risk accountable,” said Marc Andrews, Deputy Chief of Peel Regional Police.
