Two stabbed outside SkyTrain station in New Westminster; suspect arrested

NEW Westminster Police Department officers received numerous calls to 9-1-1 on Friday, October 11 at approximately 6:45 p.m. to report that people had been stabbed on Columbia Street outside the SkyTrain station.

Officers rushed to the scene and arrested someone matching the suspect description several blocks away. Police learned that two victims had been stabbed. One victim suffered a minor injury and the second had serious but not life-threatening injuries.

At this time, the suspect has been held in custody.

“We’d like to thank the numerous witnesses that called 9-1-1 and shared with police what the suspect looked like,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “Their detailed descriptions helped our officers in finding the suspect and making an arrest.”
