AFTER receiving the 2022 UBC Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Achievement Award for “Advancement of Equity, Diversity and Inclusiveness” just last June, Dr. Faisal Khosa has now bagged another recognition – that of Outstanding Academic Performance (OAP) by his department head for 2021.
Khosa is Associate Professor (Partner) at the Department of Radiology at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine.
“OAP is awarded annually to faculty members after a department peer-reviewed process, in recognition of academic achievements performed over the past year. Receipt of an OAP is a reflection of your significant productivity in relation to that of your fellow Department members,” reads the email from Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Professor, Department of Medicine, and Dean, Faculty of Medicine, UBC. Kelleher is also Vice President of Health at UBC.
“Engaging in the pursuit of excellence is a hallmark of the Faculty of Medicine. I am grateful for your contribution towards that goal and wish you success in your future endeavours,” wrote Kelleher.
This week, Khosa was also informed that he has been selected as the recipient for the 2022 Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Award by the Vancouver Community of Care Medical, Dental and Allied Staff. He will receive the award on September 12.
Earlier this year, Khosa was one of the recipients of the B.C. Achievement Community Award. The awards were announced by Premier John Horgan and Anne Giardini, Chair of the BC Achievement Foundation. He was selected as this year’s Mitchell Award of Distinction recipient — “a mentor, educator and advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion, whose selfless leadership style empowers others to lead and excel.”
