Vancouver Beautification Day on June 17

THE City of Vancouver will proclaim June 17 as Vancouver Beautification Day. The proclamation will coincide with community-led efforts to combat and remove acts of vandalism in a variety of Vancouver neighbourhoods.

“This will be a wonderful opportunity for all Vancouverites to come together and make a tangible difference in our city,” said Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim on Tuesday. “By working collaboratively, we can showcase the true spirit of community and create a more vibrant and inviting place for everyone.”

The initiative invites residents and businesses to come together and to help remove acts of vandalism on public and private property.

“Vancouver Beautification Day is a call to action for all residents to help their neighbours and contribute towards making Vancouver an even more beautiful place to call home,” said Vancouver City Councillor Mike Klassen “We’re excited to have volunteers from around the city come together to create an environment that fosters a sense of belonging, safety, and civic pride.”

Organizations partnering with Vancouver Beautification Day include the Mount Pleasant BIA, Strathcona BIA, Collingwood BIA, East Village BIA, South Vancouver Community Policing Centre, and Collingwood Community Policing Centre.

“June 17
presents an opportunity to show our support for Vancouver residents and businesses that have been hit with significant increases in vandalism in recent years,” said Neil Wyles, Executive Director of the Mount Pleasant BIA. “We’re proud to be supporting Vancouver Beautification Day and look forward to seeing the positive, longlasting impacts for our community.”
