VANCOUVER Police have released additional images of Randall Hopley, the convicted sex offender wanted Canada-wide after fleeing his halfway house last weekend.
“These additional photos show how Hopley appeared on November 4, before he left his halfway house and removed his electronic monitoring bracelet,” said Constable Tania Visintin on Friday. “Hopley is likely traveling on foot, wearing a hat and using cash to pay for purchases. Anyone who sees him should call 9-1-1 immediately.”
VPD has also released pictures of Hopley taken in 2018 and 2019, which show Hopley with different hair styles and a different appearance.
VPD immediately launched a search for Hopley on November 4, after he removed his electronic ankle monitor and failed to return to the Downtown Eastside halfway house. Eighteen full-time investigators are currently assigned to the case, reviewing over 80 tips and searching locations all over the city where he’s believed to frequent.
Investigators now know the following:
- It is believed Hopley will no longer be carrying the cart police mentioned in previous news releases. Investigators have located what they believe is his cart near Main and East 8th Avenue.
- Hopley will be paying in cash for purchases
- Hopley frequents dollar stores, sewing supply stores and Walmarts
- He will likely be traveling by foot
- It is possible Hopley will be wearing different clothing and making attempts to change his appearance or hide his face when out in public
- It is believed Hopley may have changed his appearance by cutting his hair
Hopley is 5’9” with dark short hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, black pants, and dark blue running shoes with white markings and soles. He has a dark birthmark or mole near the hairline on the left side of his head. He was last seen wearing a black fanny pack and a red lanyard with a plastic sleeve at the bottom.
Hopley has a distinctive protruding lower lip and horizontal scarring on his chin.
If Hopley is located, the public is asked to call 9-1-1 and not approach him. Anyone with information is asked to call the VPD tip line at 604-717-0601.
