ON Sunday, October 26 at approximately 5:30 p.m., New Westminster Police received a report from a parent that their child had been the victim of a robbery in Moody Park.
Officers learned that the child, who is under the age of 16, was grabbed from behind by two other youth who demanded money. Police attended the scene and quickly determined that one of the suspects was known to the victim.
Officers located and identified both suspects nearby. They were arrested for robbery and later released to their guardians.
“This is a concerning incident for both the young victim and their family,” said Communications Officer Hailey Finnigan on Tuesday. “We’re grateful the victim had the courage to come forward.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
