40-year-old man known to police shot in Maple Ridge

RIDGE Meadows RCMP are seeking further witnesses and video surveillance as the investigation into a shooting early Tuesday morning continues.

On August 1 at approximately 2:45 a.m., a frontline Ridge Meadows RCMP member on proactive patrols heard and responded to what sounded like a gunshot in the area of 224 Street and Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge.

A 40-year-old male was located suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim is known to police. BC Emergency Health Services attended the scene to transport him to hospital.

Police said the shooting appears to be targeted and there is no further concern for public safety at this time. This incident is not believed to be connected to the ongoing B.C. Gang Conflict.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
