DELTA Police safely resolved a barricaded person incident in North Delta on Friday afternoon.

On September 11 at 2:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 7000-block of Nicholson Road to check on the well-being of an individual. As the situation evolved, the individual barricaded themselves inside the residence. The Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team and additional police resources were called to assist in safely resolving the incident.

As a precaution, Nicholson Road between 72 Avenue and 70 Avenue was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

At approximately 5 p.m., the individual was safely taken into police custody. There is no ongoing risk to the public.  

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.

Delta Police thanked area residents and members of the public for their patience and cooperation while officers worked to safely resolve the situation.
