ABBOTSFORD Police announced on Wednesday that their Major Crime Unit detectives now believe they have identified the van and driver involved in the September 29 hit-and-run in the West Oaks Mall parking lot.
Charges are pending and police said they will will release further information at a later date.
The police thanked the public for the many tips and videos they received in relation to the incident and asked them not to send any more in this investigation. “Should detectives require additional public assistance, an update to this release will be issued,” they added.
On September 29, at 7:05 p.m., Abbotsford Emergency Services were called to West Oaks Mall for the report of a hit and run involving a 59-year-old pedestrian. The vehicle involved was seen briefly stopping before leaving the scene.
After speaking with numerous witnesses and viewing CCTV footage, Abbotsford Police said on October 1 that their detectives had a very good description of the suspect and his vehicle.
