Additional charges against man accused in South Surrey break-ins and assaults

DAVID William Charles Hoffman, 38, who was arrested and charged with numerous Criminal Code offences following a series of violent break-and-enters and assaults in South Surrey on February 26, has been charged with several additional Criminal Code offences relating to those circumstances, as well as a secondary incident that took place at a Fraser Health medical facility following Hoffman’s initial arrest.

On February 26, Hoffman was charged with:

  • Two counts of break-and-enter
  • One count of assault
  • Two counts of mischief under $5,000
  • One count of failing to comply with a release order

On March 3, Hoffman was charged with the following additional counts:

  • A third count of break-and-enter
  • Attempt robbery
  • Escape lawful custody
  • Assault peace officer
  • Assault by choking
  • Attempting to disarm a peace officer
  • Assault

Hoffman has been remanded into custody and his next scheduled court date is on March 7 for a bail hearing.

SPS said that as these matters are now before the courts, it is unable to offer any additional comment.
