THE BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced on Thursday that a charge of assault causing bodily harm has been approved against Surrey RCMP Constable Jagjeet Bassan in connection with their involvement in an on-duty incident which allegedly occurred on June 4, 2021, in Surrey.
An information charging Bassan with one count of assault causing bodily harm was sworn on Thursday under Provincial Court file number 249208. The first appearance on this matter is scheduled for July 5 in Surrey Provincial Court.
The charges were approved by an experienced Crown Counsel with no prior or current connection with the officer.
As this matter is now before the court, the BCPS said it will not be releasing additional information or commenting further at this time.
