ENOUGH is enough!
That is the clear message that hundreds of supporters of Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum who turned up at Wednesday’s Surrey City Council came to deliver to those rude, crude fascists who — with the support of a section of the biased white mainstream media — disrupted the Council’s proceedings on Monday.
These are part of that same white crowd who had called South Asians “taxi drivers” and mocked the suggestion of a Surrey municipal force as “Delhi Police” at Surrey City Hall a couple of years ago.
They have tried every dirty undemocratic tactic with the help of some white mainstream journalists and some councillors to sabotage the will of the Surrey electorate who brought in McCallum and his Safe Surrey Coalition to replace the colonial RCMP with a modern Surrey municipal police force accountable to Victoria and not Ottawa; and to build the Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension.
Even the BC Liberals who supported keeping the RCMP, ended up losing one of their three seats in Surrey in the last provincial election, and their new leader Kevin Falcon told Punjabi journalists that he supported a municipal police force.
Now that the RCMP is being steadily replaced by the new Surrey Police Service, the RCMP bosses and the RCMP police union and their poodles have reached the zenith of their hysteria. That is what led to last Monday’s disgraceful behaviour by a group of old, white people who are still living in the 20th Century. Their relatives and friends in the white mainstream media are brazenly supporting them.
But it is making no difference to McCallum’s supporters – both white and non-white. They are solidly standing behind him.
If anyone should resign it ought to be councillors Brenda Locke and Jack Hundial, who used McCallum’s slate to win and then ditched the Safe Surrey Coalition. If they were so principled, they should have resigned and faced a by-election. But they didn’t have the guts because they knew they would lose. Locke has been a big loser at every level – municipal, provincial and federal.
Such hypocrisy, indeed!
