Bowen Island beer recalled

THE BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) and Northam Beverages, the manufacturer of Bowen Island beer, are voluntarily recalling two types of product due to concerns about can defects.

The affected products are:

* Bowen Island – Artisan IPA, Lot numbers L18207, L18187, L18215

* Bowen Island – West Coast Lager, Lot number L18207

The rims on some cans are not seamed properly, and may have sharp metal sticking out from the rim.

The products are sold in packs of six cans. The lot number is printed on the bottom of each can.

The LDB is instructing all private retailers, hospitality customers and BC Liquor Stores to pull the product from shelves.

Customers should return recalled products to the store where they were purchased to receive a full refund.

The LDB is one of two branches of government responsible for the beverage alcohol industry in British Columbia. Every year, it purchases liquor from more than 1,000 Canadian and international suppliers and manufacturers, supplying product to wholesale and retail customers throughout the province.
