Burnaby RCMP appeal for information in arson; urge Tesla occupants to come forward

BURNABY RCMP are appealing for information, specifically from the driver or any occupants of a Tesla seen around the time a suspected arson was committed at a low-rise apartment building in Burnaby early Tuesday morning.

On November 19 just after 12:30 a.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a structure fire at an apartment complex in the area of Jersey Avenue and Kingsway in South Burnaby.

Burnaby RCMP’s Investigative Support Team assumed conduct of the file. Police have spoken to witnesses and obtained video surveillance in the area, but are now appealing to a specific vehicle that was seen driving by the apartment as the fire was lit.

“We believe the driver, and any other occupants, of the vehicle that was travelling north on Jersey Avenue as the fire was ignited may have witnessed a very significant portion of the incident and had a good look at the suspects,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. “If you were in this vehicle, which is believed to be a Tesla, please come forward and speak to our investigators.”

If you were in the area bordered by Burke Street, Patterson Avenue, Kingsway and Boundary Road, between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m., and you have dashcam video, you are requested toe contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2024-39891.
