Coquitlam RCMP say drive-by shooting wasn’t random. Seems South Asian man was target (update)

ALTHOUGH it’s early in the investigation, Coquitlam RCMP investigators say they believe that an overnight drive-by shooting in the 1200-block of Thomas Avenue, Coquitlam, was targeted.

Police told media that at least one man who lives in the home that was targeted is known to them and they are examining the possibility that this is related to the larger conflict throughout Metro Vancouver.

From the Global BC footage it seemed that the people who lived upstairs were South Asians.

Police were on scene within minutes after getting several 911 calls at about 1:15 a.m. on Friday. Multiple shots were fired into a house but no one was hurt.

No one has been arrested, but police say they are in the process of gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses and hope to make continued progress.
