Coquitlam RCMP want public’s help in suspicious disappearance of Randy Chan

[This is a revised report.]

INVESTIGATORS looking into the disappearance of Randy Joseph Chan said on Monday they are now very concerned for his safety and are looking for tips from the public to locate him.

Chan was last seen on July 21 and was reported missing to police on July 24.

Coquitlam RCMP are asking anyone who saw Chan after July 21 to call them and refer to file 2020-19414, which is now being investigated by their Major Crime Section.

“Chan has a significant police history and we understand that some people in his circle may be reluctant to talk to police, but we know there are people with inside information,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. “If you need to stay anonymous, or you have valuable information that could lead to a reward, we encourage you to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave your tip at www.solvecrime.ca.

Chan is described as:

* A 23-year-old Asian man

* About 5’8 tall (173 cm) and 200 lbs (90 kg) with a heavy build

* With short black hair and brown eyes

* Full sleeve tattoos on both arms and his left leg, with a tattoo of Buddha on his chest and Chan on his back.

Chan is a resident of Coquitlam. The exact time and location of his disappearance are not yet clear.

“Police know that some people are trying to solve Chan’s disappearance on their own,” said McLaughlin. “But you could be adding to a cycle of violence. Please call police and let us handle it.”

The Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency line is always open at 604-945-1550. You can always call it directly and ask for the Major Crime Section (file 2020-19414). If anonymity is key, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or go to their website at www.solvecrime.ca.
