Expect ‘a potent and impactful storm, an atmospheric river’ on Monday

ENVIRONMENT and Climate Change Canada has issued a severe weather alert for Metro Vancouver – central, southeast and southwest, Fraser Valley, Whistler and East Vancouver Island – Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay for Monday with rainfall amounts of 50 to 70 mm.
A potent and impactful storm, an atmospheric river, will make landfall on Monday bringing heavy rain.
Very heavy rainfall and rain on snow at higher elevations will increase the risk of flooding and landslides.
The rain will ease on Tuesday morning.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
