Travelers hoping to get a jump start on the August long weekend were already facing waits Friday morning at the borders and ferry terminals.
Traffic reports said waits were between 20 and 30 minutes at the Peach Arch, Pacific Highway and Sumas border crossings.
Also there was already a one-car wait from Tsawwassen to Duke Point and to the Gulf Islands. There are also sailing waits from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay and to Langdale.
Meanwhile, although there’s rain in the forecast for Metro Vancouver today, the rest of the long weekend looks sunny.
Environment Canada says a mix of sun and cloud is expected on Saturday, with a 30 per cent chance of rain in the morning. Then, it looks like the weather will clear up in the afternoon.
The federal weather agency predicts plenty of sunshine for Sunday and Monday with highs between 23 and 24 C.
