ABBOTSFORD Police frontline officers on Sunday, February 9 at 7:54 a.m. responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 30000-block of Harris Road.
Emergency service workers found a white Dodge pickup truck with significant front-end damage. The truck had struck a pedestrian and sheared off a power pole.
Despite immediate efforts by civilians and first responders, the pedestrian sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was arrested for impaired driving by members of the Traffic Enforcement Unit.
Police said the investigation is in its early stages and is being supported by members of Abbotsford Police’s Major Crime Unit along with the Integrated Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Service (ICARS).
Harris Road, between Mount Lehman Road and Ross Road, remains closed as officers gather evidence at the scene. Anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have dash camera footage is asked to contact Abbotsford Police at 604-859-5225.
