THE Fiji Canada Business Association (FCBA), based in Surrey, on Tuesday made a donation of over $10,000 to the Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) for a local seniors’ home.
The cheque presented at the PICS Seniors’ Home on December 3 was the result of fundraising efforts during Fiji’s Independence Day celebrations on October 12, organized by the FCBA.
This marks another instance of FCBA’s charitable efforts, following their donation of over $12,000 to the PICS seniors home last year.
To date, the association has contributed $92,000 towards its goal of $100,000 from Fiji Canadians for a new $85M care facility being constructed by PICS in Cloverdale.
“We are close to reaching our target amount for this new facility. A hallway within the facility will be named the “Fijian Village” as a notable landmark,” said Kavin Chand, President of FCBA.
Chand expressed gratitude towards the local Fijian community for their support during fundraising efforts.
