One man in custody after stabbing in Surrey’s Newton (update: road closure lifted)

The road closure of 130 Street between 73 and 74 Avenues has been lifted.

 

ONE man is in custody and a victim is being treated for serious wounds to their arm after a stabbing on Wednesday morning near 73 Avenue and 130 Street in the Newton neighbourhood of Surrey.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on December 4, Surrey Police Service (SPS) was called by a victim who was stabbed multiple times in the arm. SPS officers were on scene within minutes and able to apply medical intervention to the victim while waiting for medical assistance.

Other SPS officers, with the assistance of the Integrated Police Dog Services (IPDS), were able to locate a suspect male and arrest them without incident. During the search for the suspect, a nearby school, Princess Margaret Secondary, was placed in a temporary “hold and secure”, which has since been lifted.

The suspect remains in custody pending further investigation. The victim is currently being treated in hospital for his injuries.
