FOUR Surrey Police Service (SPS) recruit officers graduated from the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) on March 8 alongside their classmates from other municipal police agencies. This week, these new SPS Constables officially begin serving Surrey residents as they are deployed into operational policing positions on the frontline.

The three men and one woman in this latest group of recruit graduates exemplify the diversity and community connection to Surrey that is the trademark of the vast majority of SPS recruit hires. This recent graduation brings the total number of SPS JIBC graduates to 41. SPS also has 16 recruit officers currently in training at the JIBC, with another 12 recruits scheduled to begin training in May.

“I want to congratulate this remarkable group of new officers who have chosen to serve right here in Surrey,” said SPS Chief Constable Norm Lipinski. “Policing is an exciting and dynamic career and Surrey is a great city for new recruits to build community connections throughout their long policing careers.”
