MLA for Abbotsford South and Opposition Critic for Citizens’ Services Bruce Banman on Monday asked Premier John Horgan why he continues to ignore Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada (ANAVETS) and their requests for the Premier to stop excluding them from his pandemic supports.
“It’s truly unbelievable that the day after the anniversary of D-Day, the Premier still has no concern for ANAVETS units who need funding now,” said Banman, “For weeks, he refused to provide groups like the Legions and Army, Navy and Airforce clubs access to circuit breaker funding, and even when he offered some degree of support for our Legions, he continued to snub another vital organization that cares for our veterans.”
ANAVETS supports more than 18,000 members across Canada, assisting veterans through a variety of programs and services. The organization also maintains museums and operates many of the clubs, homes and meeting places of veterans and active-duty members of the Canadians Armed Forces. Despite facing questions directly from the ANAVETS as well as from members of the Opposition, Horgan has yet to offer a response or any form of support, said the BC Liberals.
