IHIT says the investigation is in the early stages. At this point the only information available is that one person has died as a result of an altercation in a Whistler Hotel.
Whistler RCMP was called to the hotel just after 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

Whistler RCMP said police were dispatched to a local hotel for a complaint involving an adult male.
“When members arrived, the adult male was observed to be unresponsive and in medical distress and first aid was administered. That person was later pronounced dead at hospital,” police said.
They added: “Given the attendance of police this set of circumstances warranted IIOBC [Independent Investigations Office of BC] notification. They have been advised accordingly.”
