Jatinder Singh charged with additional offences in Surrey sexual assault investigation

SURREY Police Service and the Special Victims Unit of the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) announced on Wednesday that Jatinder Singh of Surrey has been charged with additional offences in connection with a sexual assault investigation that commenced in July 2024.

On July 20, 2024, at 3:15 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of an alleged stranger sexual assault in the 14100-block of 91 Avenue. The victim reported that she was woken up by a man groping her in her residence. The victim screamed for help and the suspect fled. On August 16, 2024, Jatinder Singh, then 24, was charged with break-and-enter and sexual assault. He was released by the courts with conditions.

This has been an active and ongoing investigation led by the Special Victims Unit (SVU) of the SPOSU since July 2024 and investigators have gathered further evidence which has led to additional charges. On January 22, 2025, Jatinder Singh was arrested and charged with four additional offences: two counts of trespass at night near dwelling house and two counts of secretly observing / recording nudity in a private place.

On February 7, 2025, Jatinder Singh was released by courts with multiple conditions which included electronic monitoring until the end of May. He is to be under a curfew after this time period and monitored by a bail supervisor.
