CHARGES have been sworn against a man following a Surrey Police Service (SPS) investigation into an alleged theft and sexual assault that occurred in the early morning hours of August 26 in the 9800-block of King George Boulevard.
On August 26 at approximately 3:10 a.m., a man was walking in the 9800-block of King George Boulevard, when he was approached by a stranger, an adult South Asian male. During the interaction between the two, the stranger allegedly stole the man’s cell phone.
A short time later, a woman was walking in the same area and was approached by a stranger, an adult South Asian male, who, following a brief interaction, allegedly pushed her into a nearby bush and sexually assaulted her before leaving the area on foot.
SPS’s Special Investigation Section (SIS) was contacted and assumed conduct of the investigation.
SPS subsequently published a news release requesting the public’s assistance on August 27 to identify the unknown suspect.
42-year-old Kulwinder Mann has now been charged with the following offences:
- Theft under $5,000
- Sexual assault
- Assault
Mann is currently in custody and will be appearing in court later.
