THE BC Liberals on Wednesday announced that their first leadership debate will be held at Surrey’s Crown Palace Banquet Hall at 12025 Nordel Way in Surrey on Sunday, October 15.
Although no one has officially declared they will be running for the leadership as yet, interim party leader Rich Coleman told the media recently that those who may enter the race are MLAs Mike Bernier, Todd Stone, Mike de Jong, Andrew Wilkinson, Sam Sullivan and Michael Lee as well as MP Dianne Watts.
On Wednesday night, media were reporting that Watts and Wilkinson are likely to announce their bids this weekend.
The October 15 event will be the first of six leadership debates to be held in regions throughout the province. This event is free of charge and open to the public. Party members will be invited to submit themes and questions in advance of the debate.
The debate will also be streamed on Facebook Live. Doors will open at 1:15 p.m. and the program will begin at 2 p.m.
Additional dates and locations will be announced soon.
