Man charged in connection to Surrey’s Fraser Heights break-ins

SURREY Police Service and the RCMP Surrey Police Operations Support Unit’s (SPOSU) Property and Auto Crime Target Team on Wednesday announced charges against a man in connection to property crimes in the Fraser Heights neighbourhood of Surrey.

On December 17, 2024, a frontline officer with the SPOSU began an investigation into a residential break-in in Fraser Heights where jewellery and sentimental belongings were stolen.

Through their investigation, officers identified a suspect who allegedly committed various property crimes between December 17, 2024, and January 23, 2025, in Fraser Heights.

On January 29, the SPOSU Property and Auto Crime Target Team executed a search warrant on a residence in Surrey and arrested the suspect.

On January 30, 29-year-old Tyson Helgason was charged with one count of break-and-enter and remanded into custody.

On February 6, he was charged with four additional counts: two counts of trafficking in stolen property, and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Helgason remains in custody until his next court appearance which is scheduled for February 13.
