Multiple vehicle collision in Burnaby leaves pedestrian seriously injured, a driver with broken bones

BURNABY RCMP are seeking witnesses and dashcam video after a collision that has left a pedestrian in the hospital with serious injuries.

On Tuesday, April 1 at approximately 12:20 p.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at Lougheed Highway and Production Way in North Burnaby.

There were two vehicles involved in the primary collision. One vehicle was travelling eastbound on Lougheed Highway when another vehicle travelling westbound began making a southbound turn onto Brighton Avenue. One of these vehicles struck a pedestrian and ran into a commercial vehicle. A fourth vehicle was struck by one of the primary vehicles involved and sustained minor damage.

Two drivers were transported to the hospital, one with broken bones and another for precautionary measures. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with several serious injuries.

Burnaby RCMP’s Traffic Services has assumed conduct of the investigation. At this time, impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor.

“We have spoken to several witnesses, but we believe there may be more,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj. “If you witnessed this incident or have video of the incident or the events leading up to the incident, please contact our investigators.”

Police are requesting anyone that witnessed the incident or may have any type of video, including dashcam video, in the area of Lougheed Highway and Production Way between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 1 to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2025-10718.
