AMRITSAR: Navjot Singh Sidhu – Amritsar MP seems to have reconciled and decided to seek reelection from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. His office at Amritsar has started functioning.

The office incharge at Amritsar Aman said that they are looking after the interests of the people of the holy city and Navjot Singh Sidhu will contest from Amritsar. Sidhu will be visiting Amritsar on August 6 and 7 and would meet his supporters in connection with the preparations for the Lok Sabha poll.

Navjot Singh Sidhu who is a known cricketer of the country has been away from his Lok Sabha constituency for the past many months and had virtually ignored it. He was annoyed with the high command of his party (BJP) for ignoring him while framing the national executive by Rajnath Singh, national president of the BJP.

Mrs. Najot Kaur Sidhu wife of Navjot Singh who is MLA from Amritsar and is a chief parliamentary secretary in the Punjab cabinet had expressed her displeasure over the sidelining of Sidhu and had declared that he would not contest election from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat.

In the recent reorganization of the BJP at the national level in connection with the preparations for the 2014 Lok Sabha poll, Sidhu has been given the representation. He has been included in a committee headed by Nitin Gadkari former president of the BJP who will look after the management of the elections of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha and also enrollment of volunteers for the BJP election campaign.

In a recent interview with a newspaper of the region, Sidhu has stated that he has put behind all grievances. Even his wife has also declared that her husband would contest the election from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat. Meanwhile speculation has been rife that Sidhu may join the Congress AND CONTEST FROM Amritsar on Congress ticket – But so far there is no such confirmation.

Sidhu also has been having differences with the Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia who is alleged to have opposed him in the last Lok Sabha polls. Majithia is also interested in securing Amritsar Lok Sabha seat for his father who is president of the Khalsa College Managing Committee and is the son of late Surjit Singh Majithia who was a minister in the cabinet of Pandit Nehru.
Congress has a strong candidate in OP Soni from Amritsar who gave a tough time to Sidhu in last Lok Sabha polls and lost by 20,000 votes.

Sidhu nowadays appears on Colors TV channel in the ‘Comedy nights with Kapil’ programme after ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja’ slot at 10-30 pm…where he is seen laughing all the time……with the comedians….on Saturdays and Sundays.
