New Westminster Police appeal for witnesses after assaults on 6th Street

ON September 27 at approximately 9 a.m., New Westminster Police officers received a 9-1-1 call to report that two people had been assaulted while walking in the 600-block of 6th Street.

Officers rushed to the scene, located the victims, and searched for the suspect. The victims did not know the suspect. BC Ambulance attended the scene to assess what appeared to be minor injuries.

Police were unable to locate anyone matching the suspect description and are now appealing to the public to help identify the person in a CCTV photo. The suspect is described as a heavyset male, approximately thirty-five years of age, wearing tan work pants and a blue plaid jacket.

“It is believed that before these assaults took place the suspect was shouting at people walking in the area,” said Sgt. Justine Thom, “If you saw this suspect in the area or you have information that can help in identifying this person and you haven’t yet spoken to police, please call us.”
