THE New Westminster Police Department said on Friday that it has launched a new website.
The website has been designed to prioritize a more user-friendly experience for those seeking more information about services, public safety updates, and joining the NWPD as an officer. The website has been designed to be compliant to WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) AA rating.
New and enhanced features include:
- Simplified layout and improved navigation to easily access news, services, and supports.
- Mobile-friendly, responsive design for better accessibility across devices.
- An improved employment section of the website to help people navigate the application process.
- A redesigned Police Board section that organizes meeting agendas, minutes, and supporting documents in a clear, user-friendly layout, making it easier for residents to stay informed.
- Accessibility enhancements to meet a WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) AA rating.
- A Quick Escape safety feature; the Quick Escape button is a tool often used on websites dealing with sensitive topics such as intimate partner violence. Once clicked, it closes the web page you are on and opens a generic page to better protect your privacy.
“We know people want transparency, clarity, and timely information,” said Communications Officer Hailey Finnigan. “This new website reflects those values. It’s designed so residents can easily navigate important updates, understand our services, and feel confident they’re getting accurate information straight from their police department.”
The NWPD encourages residents to visit the new website and discover its improved navigation and features. These improvements were made with the community in mind, and the NWPD says it is committed to keeping the site responsive, current, and easy to use.
