VANCOUVER Police are investigating a serious collision on Cambie Street at West 57th Avenue that has claimed the life of a man in his 20s.
A vehicle with three occupants was travelling southbound on Cambie Street just after 11 p.m. on Saturday, when it collided with a second vehicle at West 57th Avenue, before crashing into a utility pole. Vancouver Fire and Rescue removed the people from the southbound vehicle, and BC Ambulance Service rushed them to hospital, where the driver died. The two passengers remain in hospital with serious injuries.
The occupants in the second vehicle were not seriously injured.
Investigators from the VPD’s Collision Investigations Unit are collecting evidence at the scene as they work to determine what may have led to the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call 604-717-3012.
This is Vancouver’s fifth fatal collision of 2019.
