ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police on Saturday charged two men after they were located in a stolen pick-up truck and subsequently attempted to carjack another vehicle.
On August 22, at approximately 4 a.m., a call was received regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area of Goreway Drive and Humberwest Parkway in the City of Brampton. Once officers arrived, it was discovered that the pick-up truck occupied by the two men, was reported stolen from Halton Region.
Officers deployed a tire deflation device to disable the vehicle, but despite directions from the officers, the two men fled the area in the stolen car after driving over the tire deflation device.
The suspects fled in the vehicle to a gas station in the area of Queen Street and Airport Road in Brampton. While there, the suspects physically removed the driver of a vehicle to take control of his car. The driver resisted the attempts, and the suspects fled from the gas station on foot. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any physical injuries.
Responding officers commenced a search of the immediate area, located the two suspects in an adjacent trucking yard and placed them both under arrest.
The continuing investigation has revealed that both suspects may be involved in additional criminal offences from regions across the Greater Toronto Area.
