Pedestrian-involved collision in Burnaby

BURNABY RCMP’s Traffic Services are investigating a single motor vehicle collision that sent a pedestrian to the hospital.

On Saturday, May 6 at approximately 1:50 p.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian in the area of Imperial Street and Patterson Avenue.

The vehicle was travelling eastbound on Imperial Street at the intersection at Patterson Avenue when it veered onto the sidewalk and struck a 19-year-old male pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver remained at scene and spoke to police. Impaired driving has been ruled out.

The pedestrian remains in the hospital in serious condition.

“If you witnessed the incident and have not spoken to police, our investigators would like to hear from you,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj om Sunday. “If you have dash cam video in the area, we would also like to speak to you.”

Burnaby RCMP are requesting anyone that witnessed the incident or may have dash cam footage in the area of Patterson Avenue and Imperial Street between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to contact them at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2023-15026.
