Pedestrian struck by bus in Surrey

RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) are investigating an early evening collision between a bus and a pedestrian at the intersection of 56 Avenue and 180 Street that has sent the pedestrian to hospital with minor injuries.

At approximately 5 p.m., SPOSU officers responded to reports that a shuttle-style bus had struck a pedestrian at the intersection of 56 Avenue and 180 Street. Surrey Fire Service firefighters and BCEHS paramedics administered medical intervention to the adult male pedestrian, who was later transported to hospital where his injuries are still being assessed.

The bus driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Motorists are advised that the intersection of 56 Avenue and 180 Street will be closed while officers examine the scene for evidence.
