Port Moody Police arrest youth after altercation involving a knife

PORT Moody Police said on Tuesday they are investigating a concerning incident which took place near a high school on Monday afternoon.

On November 20, witnesses contacted the Port Moody Police Department after observing an altercation between youth at a bus stop in the 1300-block of David Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. the same day.

Witnesses reported a physical altercation between two youths, which resulted in one of them chasing the other with a large knife through a crowd of students. The victim was able to flee to safety and no one was reported to be injured. Frontline officers arrested a 15-year-old youth suspect on Monday evening and the investigation continues.

“This incident was so brazen and occurred as hundreds of youth were leaving school for the day,” said Constable Sam Zacharias. “We are aware there is a video circulating of this incident and we know there are many witnesses who have yet to speak with us.”
