THE Indian Consulate General in Vancouver organized a business outreach event to promote investment opportunities in India for Non Resident Indians (NRIs)/ People of Indian Origin (PIOs).
Indian Consul General Manish made a detailed presentation and gave an overview of the current state of the Indian economy, shared the vision for Amrit Kaal (India at 2047), and highlighted business reforms, especially in the field of infrastructure and tech sectors. He presented India as a global innovation hub and provided detailed information on opportunities available in agriculture, construction, IT-BPM (Information Technology and Business Process Management), fintech, food processing, pharmaceuticals and healthcare. He appraised the guests on the special facilities available for NRIs/PIOs and the help desk facility available at Invest India. He also shared details on India-Canada and India-BC relationships.
As part of the event, a panel discussion was also organized which was moderated by Sukesh Kumar, Partner, KPMG, and Board Chair, Canada-India Business Council. The panelists included Joseph Selvaraj, President and CEO, SBI Canada, Abhimanyu Pandey, AVP, ICICI Bank Canada, Vikram Menda, Director, Lululemon, and Jeet Jheetey, VP, Cleanseed Capital. During the discussion, panelists highlighted the facilities provided by Indian banks in Canada for PIO/ NRI investors. Success stories of companies already operating in India was discussed.
A special presentation was made by Indian coffee company Forest Bean. The presentation highlighted the coffee-growing tradition in the Western Ghats of India, specially in Coorg, and its sustainable and environmentally friendly way of growing and reaching from farms to consumers in Canada.
The event was attended by a large number of guests from the diaspora and business community, and was well appreciated.
