RCMP to honour South Asians who used turbans to rescue man in Golden Ears Park

THE Ridge Meadows RCMP announced on Monday that it will be presenting awards to five men who assisted in rescuing a man from a rocky slope in Golden Ears Provincial Park.

“The five men, who are of South Asian ethnicity, removed their personal turban headwear, tying them together as a makeshift rope and successfully rescued a man on a slope near rushing river water,” the RCMP said.

The Officer in Charge of Ridge Meadows RCMP, Superintendent Wendy Mehat, will present the awards on Tuesday, October 26 at the RCMP office in Maple Ridge.
