RCMP underwater recovery team yet to locate body of Bhabjit Aujla of Surrey

THE RCMP’s underwater recovery team has yet to locate the body of a man, whose friends identified him as Bhabjit Aujla of Surrey to The VOICE, who went missing after he lost control of a Sea-Doo on Alouette Lake in Maple Ridge last week on Thursday.

Accoording to reports, Aujla and a woman were thrown off the Sea-Doo; however, the woman was rescued by a boater who was nearby.

A Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue team that was informed by B.C. Ambulance Service about the incident at the north end of the lake searched for the man from Thursday until 1 a.m. on Friday and then resumed their search on Friday.

An RCMP dive team then started searching for the body.

Ridge Meadows RCMP Constable Julie Klaussner told The VOICE on Monday that parts of the lake were as deep as 500 metres and the rocks at the bottom of the lake had sharp edges.

The victim’s friends told this newspaper that he was 37 years old and was planning to get married soon.
