RIDGE Meadows RCMP recently seized a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs and a number of firearms at a residence in relation to an ongoing investigation.

On March 20 at approximately 1:30 p.m., RCMP frontline officers arrested a 29-year-old male as part of an ongoing uttering threats and weapons possession investigation.

As a result of the arrest, Ridge Meadows RCMP, with support from the RCMP Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant on a residence in the 11700-block of 256th Street in Maple Ridge.

During the search, a significant amount of suspected illegal psilocybin (mushrooms) were located on the property. In addition, multiple loaded firearms were located unsafely stored inside the residence.

“Targeted enforcement on the sale and production of illicit drugs in our community is a priority for our detachment,” said Sgt. Trevor Hanson, Ridge Meadows RCMP Street Enforcement Unit, on Monday. “This substantial seizure removes these items off our streets and helps improve public safety.”

As this is an active investigation and no further information will be released at this time, police said.
