Sexual assault charges laid against Surrey man

THE RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit’s Vulnerable Persons Unit’s investigation into allegations of sexual assault and sexual exploitation has resulted in a man being arrested and charged.

In the fall of 2024, RCMP SPOSU investigators responded to allegations of a sexual assault between an adult man and a youth. The man is alleged to have entered a relationship with the youth upon meeting the youth while providing supports at a local area high school. The offense is alleged to have occurred in 2024.

Henry Roger Lorteau has been arrested and charged in relation to this investigation:

    • 1 count of sexual assault
    • 2 counts of sexual exploitation

Investigators are notifying the public about this case and are requesting anyone who may have additional information to contact SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 24-154899 (SU).

Lorteau was released from custody with bail conditions until his next court appearance on May 23.

The victim’s name and identity are covered by a publication ban under section 486.4(2) of the Criminal Code.
