RICHMOND RCMP are seeking witnesses to an early morning shooting which occurred outside a local shopping centre.
Just after 7:30 a.m. on Friday, December 21, Richmond RCMP were called to the 5300-block of No. 3 Road, to assist BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) paramedics who were responding to a possible victim of a shooting.
Police located a man suffering from gunshot injuries. He was transported to hospital in serious condition.
This investigation is the early stages and details surrounding the incident have not been determined at this time, police said.
The parking lot at the shopping centre, starting at Home Sense and extending to the north of the mall is currently cordoned off, while the investigation is ongoing.
“We are currently in the evidence gathering stage and do not have a timeline with respect to when the areas around the mall will be re-opened,” said Richmond RCMP Sgt. Kyle Simpson. “We appreciate that this may cause some inconvenience during the holiday season and ask for your continued patience as we investigate this significant incident.”
Richmond RCMP are asking anyone who may have been a witness to this event and have not already spoken to police to call 604-278-1212 and cite file 2018-41056.
