SURREY RCMP are currently on scene in the Newton area of Surrey for a report of shots fired.

At approximately 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of shots fired in the 6800-block of 151 Street. At this time there are no apparent injuries.

The initial investigation has revealed that one vehicle, described as a silver SUV, was chasing another, described as a newer model black sedan. It is currently suspected that shots originated from the occupants of the black sedan.

Shortly after the initial shots fired call, Surrey RCMP received a complaint of a vehicle fire in the 17100-block of 83 Avenue. The vehicle was determined to be a silver SUV and is believed to be associated to the shots fired call.

Officers are conducting neighborhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information. The investigation is still in its early stages.
