Sikhs serving meals and medicines in Ukraine’s war zone

THE United Sikhs organization’s emergency response teams have been based in Medyka, Poland, right next to the Ukraine border to serve the needs of refugees for weeks now. This need continues to grow by the day.

Inside Ukraine, with the situation even more dire as an active war zone, the needs of millions of displaced residents have reached a very high level of urgency.

The United Sikhs’ teams are now serving meals and medicines in the city of Kharkiv in northeast Ukraine which has been under heavy attacks and bombardments. Kharkiv was an eclectic and cultural center of Ukraine. Now the city is a pile of ruins, note the United Sikhs.

The United Sikhs have served over 165,000 hot meals at their base camp in Medyka, Poland.

As part of their humanitarian mission theye are expanding efforts to serve basic life-saving supplies, including meals, in cities inside Ukraine. Despite the challenges and war conditions, their brave volunteers have made their way into some of the devastated cities to serve their residents with food, water and medicines. Their teams are delivering food and water door to door to the most impacted residents in Kharkiv.

“The situation in Kharkiv is like a living hell. There is destruction everywhere. While procuring food and essential supplies, bombs have dropped from the sky a few meters away. It is scary but we are determined to serve the affected residents even more,” says Dr. Nihal Singh, a volunteer who is heading the humanitarian efforts in Kharkiv.
He and his team are finding the following items are needed immediately in Kharkiv and other cities in Ukraine:

* Basic food supplies

* Cooked meals

* Hygiene kits

* Dental kits

* Medicines

* Water

“We are very thankful to everyone who has made contributions to this war time mission. Please keep your generous donations coming so we can keep serving residents of Ukraine displaced by the ongoing tragedy of war,” say the United Sikhs organization.
