SURREY Police Service Chief Constable Norn Lipinski announced on Tuesday in a video message that police “will endeavor to release the names and photos of individuals who have been arrested and charged [in extortion-related cases], specifically when we require additional information from the public or when that individual is found to pose a significant risk to public safety.”
Lipinski said Surrey Police are adjusting their strategies in dealing with the recent spike in shootings in the city.
He said Surrey Police have requested additional resources from the Province to increase the number of police officers that conduct patrols around target locations, adding: “We need more uniformed police officers to keep our citizens safe.”
Lipinski has also asked for Air Force 1 to be deployed to Surrey during nighttime hours. “This helicopter is a useful provincial resources that can be used to deter criminal activity and assist our officers in making arrests.”
Lipinski urged the public to report any threats to the police and assured them that Surrey Police were working around the clock on this issue.
