ON November 13, 2024, Richmond RCMP attended the 3700-block of Blundell Road for a possible break-and-enter in progress. Frontline officers contained the residence and located an insecure exterior door but the suspect had already left the scene.
Officers collected the initial evidence with the Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit later taking conduct of the investigation.
Through the subsequent investigation, a suspect was identified. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan has since been charged with one count of break-and-enter and remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
“Property crime has a real impact on the people who live and work in our community,” says Cpl. Ryan Lee, Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit. “Our officers work hard to hold offenders accountable and help residents feel safe. If you see something suspicious, report it. Your call could help prevent a crime.”
Richmond RCMP recommend residents to become involved in their neighbourhood by getting to know their neighbours and by participating in a Block Watch group. To learn more about Block Watch in Richmond, you can call 604-207-4829 or email [email protected].
