Suspect in 2018 Burnaby hit-and-run arrested

BURNABY RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team have arrested a suspect in a 2018 hit-and-run.

On Sunday, March 4, 2018, at 8:54 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the 7400-block of Gilley Avenue. The 68-year-old pedestrian was transported to hospital in critical condition.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian did not remain at the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed that the involved vehicle was likely red in colour and would have damage to the front of it.

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) took conduct of the investigation.

Last week, charges were approved against 70-year-old Lyle Fraser.

Fraser was arrested on Tuesday. He faces one count of failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily harm.

“Four years after this incident, the victim is still recovering from their injuries,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj. “We are pleased that this file is now before the courts.”
