AT approximately noon on Tuesday, October 28, New Westminster Police officers responded to reports of two men pushing and punching one another in the 700-block of 8th Street. According to callers, one of the men brandished an edged weapon before walking away. Witnesses called police immediately and relayed a very detailed suspect description.
Thanks to the detailed description provided by witnesses, officers located the suspect and he was arrested without incident. The suspect was found to be in possession of an edged weapon and it was seized by police. The other man involved in the altercation could not be located. This incident is still under investigation.
“We’d like to speak with the other man involved to understand the full circumstances of what happened,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver on Thursday. “If you were part of this altercation or witnessed it, please reach out to investigators.”
